It had its 1st classed in July 1951 with 883 college students. In 1977 the College was renamed as the South Louisiana Vocational Technical College and in 1990 as South Louisiana Local Technical Institute. Ultimately in July, 2003 it was named as the L. E. Fletcher Technical Neighborhood School.
